A South Carolina man, Joseph McKinnon, accused of strangling his girlfriend, Patricia Dent, reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack while in the process of burying her in their yard. The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office revealed that McKinnon, 60, allegedly k*lled Dent, 65, inside their Trenton home. Authorities responded to a call about an “unresponsive male lying in his yard.”
Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered McKinnon’s lifeless body. Medical personnel attempted to revive him, but their efforts were unsuccessful. During the investigation, deputies made a grim discovery—a second body in a freshly dug pit, identified as Dent, who shared the residence with McKinnon.
The sheriff, Jody Rowland, explained that McKinnon experienced a “cardiac event” while covering the pit. Investigators believe that McKinnon attacked Dent in their home, and an autopsy confirmed that she d*ed from str*ngulation. According to the sheriff, McKinnon then bound and wrapped her in trash bags before placing her in the previously prepared pit.
Dent, who was expected at work at the Mount Vintage golf course on the day of her d*ath, failed to show up and did not respond to calls or messages. The incident unfolded in a chilling sequence, leading to McKinnon’s demise while attempting to conceal the crime.
