Mark McKeown, a 61-year-old resident of Florida, stands accused of deliberately running over his elderly father multiple times using his truck and subsequently fleeing the scene of the tragic incident.

According to records from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Mark McKeown was apprehended on Sunday and faces charges related to leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.

The incident unfolded on a Saturday evening at a bar, where law enforcement responded to what was described as a “fatal hit and run.”

Authorities discovered 86-year-old Thomas McKeown in the parking lot, having been “struck and dragged by a black pickup truck,” as outlined in the sheriff’s office statement.

Investigators suggest that Thomas fell in front of the black pickup truck while it was backing into a parking space. The driver, identified as Mark McKeown, allegedly ran over his father, dragging him across the parking lot.

Shockingly, the truck purportedly reversed and advanced multiple times, repeatedly running over the elderly man, before eventually leaving the scene.

Thomas McKeown was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the official statement.

Mark McKeown’s bond was established at $50,000, and he was released from custody on Sunday, as indicated by jail records.

The ongoing investigation leaves open the possibility of additional charges, though it remains unclear if any will be filed. Notably, as of Monday afternoon, court records did not list an attorney for Mark.
