WOMAN WHO ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO SET HUSBAND ON FIRE NOW CHARGED WITH KILLING BUTCHER SHOP OWNER IN HOUSE FIRE

In a tragic incident, Julie Boxley, 52, has been charged with first-degree murder and arson in Marquette County District Court on Nov. 3. These charges are related to a house fire in Ishpeming, Mich., on March 5, which claimed the life of 72-year-old Glenn Andrews, the owner of Glenn’s Smokehouse. The fire left Andrews with severe burns, and he succumbed to his injuries after spending two weeks in the University of Michigan Burn Center.

Andrews, known for his local butcher shop and his "famous mustache," had opened Glenn’s Smokehouse in Ishpeming after retiring from the Dearborn Sausage Company. The GoFundMe campaign set up by his family revealed that he and his wife moved to the area 25 years ago, continuing his passion for food and community.

Tragically, Boxley, who was living with Andrews to assist in caring for his sick wife Linda, now faces serious charges. According to Jill, Andrews' daughter, the situation may have seemed positive on the surface, but caution is urged in letting someone into the family circle. The GoFundMe campaign emphasized the close-knit community's loss, describing Glenn as an outgoing, friendly, loyal, and trusted individual.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, Boxley has another set of charges against her. In a separate case, she allegedly attempted to set her then-husband James Boxley on fire during Christmas in 2021. James testified in court, recounting the terrifying moment when he woke up to cold liquid being poured on him and a small flame. Boxley reportedly lit matches and threw them at him, expressing hatred.

Boxley's attorney, Jennifer France, mentioned in court that her client's "history of mental illness" is being examined to determine its role in these actions. Boxley pleaded not guilty to charges, including great bodily harm less than murder and assault with intent to murder in September. She is expected back in court in December for this case.

The records indicate that Boxley is set to be arraigned in Marquette County District Court regarding Glenn Andrews' death on Nov. 27. As of now, no attorney is listed for her in court records, and the legal proceedings will likely shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. The juxtaposition of Glenn Andrews' zest for life, community impact, and the alleged actions of Julie Boxley adds a layer of complexity and sorrow to this unfortunate incident.
