The Father Who M-arried His Daughter And Then M-urdered Her

In 1995, Steven Pladl, a 20-year-old man, began grooming a 15-year-old girl named Alyssa over the internet. He manipulated her emotionally and psychologically, and eventually convinced her to run away with him to New York. Alyssa became pregnant with Pladl's child, and they had a daughter named Denise in 1997. Alyssa has said that Pladl abused Denise, and that she decided to put Denise up for adoption because she believed it was the best way to protect her.

Years later, in 2016, Denise reached out to her biological parents on social media. Pladl and Alyssa reconnected, and they began a romantic relationship. Pladl also began grooming Denise, and they eventually had a son together. Their incestuous relationship was discovered in 2017, and they were both arrested and charged with incest. Pladl was found dead in his cell by apparent suicide in 2019, and Denise is currently serving a prison sentence for incest.

The story of Steven Pladl and his family is a tragic one. It is a cautionary tale about the dangers of online predators and the importance of protecting children from abuse. It is also a reminder of the devastating consequences of incest.

**How Pladl Groomed Alyssa**

Pladl used a variety of tactics to groom Alyssa. He first gained her trust by pretending to be a caring and understanding person. He listened to her problems and offered her support. He also told her that he loved her, even though he knew that she was underage.

Once Pladl had gained Alyssa's trust, he began to isolate her from her family and friends. He discouraged her from talking to them and made her feel like she couldn't trust them. He also made her feel like she needed him and that she couldn't live without him.

Pladl also used emotional and psychological manipulation to control Alyssa. He made her feel like she was worthless and that she would never be able to find anyone else who loved her. He also threatened to hurt her or himself if she tried to leave him.

**The Consequences of Incest**

Incest can have devastating consequences for both the victim and the perpetrator. Victims of incest often experience a range of emotional and psychological problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. They may also have difficulty forming and maintaining healthy relationships.

Perpetrators of incest also experience negative consequences. They are often incarcerated, and they may lose their jobs and their families. They may also experience guilt, shame, and self-hatred.

**Preventing Incest**

There are a number of things that can be done to prevent incest. Parents can talk to their children about sex and relationships early and often. They can also teach their children about online safety and how to identify and avoid predators.

It is also important to create an open and supportive environment where children feel comfortable talking to their parents about anything. If a child discloses that they are being abused, parents should take immediate action to protect them.

**Conclusion**

The story of Steven Pladl and his family is a tragic one. It is a reminder of the dangers of online predators and the importance of protecting children from abuse. It is also a reminder of the devastating consequences of incest.

  1. This is horribly inaccurate. In April of 2018 Steven killed the son he had with Denise. The next day he shot and killed Denise and her foster father, before turning the gun on himself. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-43747225
