Patterson's fate took a sinister turn when evidence suggested he was purposefully lured to El Paso. A chilling discovery in the Chihuahuan Desert, a hub for illegal activity, revealed a bone and Patterson's ex-wife's admission of her father's evil scheme.


The international manhunt intensified with Interpol's involvement, leading to Young's capture in Honduras. Young confessed to luring Patterson, witnessing his bind by Urick, and later discovering his brutal m*urder. In the pursuit of justice, both Urick and Young pleaded guilty to Patterson's m*urder in September 1999. The prosecution sought the de*ath penalty, resulting in Young's 20-year sentence, of which he served 17 years. Lisa Urick Patterson, Gary's ex-wife, served five years before her dea*th in 2005.
