Murder of Kathryn Grosvenor

Murder of Kathryn Grosvenor

Kathryn Grosvenor, aged 23, met her unfortunate demise and was last observed at her residence in Nicholls, ACT, on Sunday, March 3, 2002. The last contact with Kathryn occurred when her mother conversed with her via phone around 7:50 pm on that fateful day.

There exist two unverified sightings of Kathryn in the Gold Creek locale on the evening she vanished. One sighting was reported at the George Harcourt Inn in Nicholls, where it was believed she acquired cigarettes between 9:05 and 9:15 pm.

She stood at a height of 178cm with a slender frame, adorned with long brownish-red hair. Her attire during the last sighting comprised dark-colored hipster pants, electric blue platform boots, and a red 'Paris' top.

On Saturday, March 9, 2002, at approximately 9 am, a canoeist discovered her lifeless body in Yarralumla Bay, situated 200m east of Attunga Point. Her body had been weighted down by a concrete bollard, which seemingly originated from Anthony Rolfe Drive in Gungahlin.

During the year 2002, a witness came forth with details suggesting a man had been observed halting near the Anthony Rolfe Avenue roundabout, witnessed placing an item in the trunk of a vehicle.

The vehicle in question is described as red, resembling an early 1980s model of a Toyota Corolla sedan.

Moving forward to March 2012, another witness came forward, recounting the sighting of two men preparing to load a block of concrete kerbing from the roadside into the rear of a black utility vehicle. Simultaneously, a second red vehicle was parked on the median strip.

The black two-door utility vehicle appeared to be in excellent condition with no covering over the tray. Its sides were affixed as part of the vehicle structure. The observer speculated it might have been a Ford or a Holden.

The second vehicle was identified as a small to medium-sized red sedan, displaying signs of wear and faded paint.

The initial man is depicted as having a Caucasian appearance, aged between his mid-twenties and mid-thirties, standing around 180cm (5’11) tall, possessing a medium to large athletic build, sun-kissed skin, and messy, short brown hair. He donned knee-length dark beige shorts and a light-colored short-sleeved shirt.

The second man, also with a Caucasian appearance, stood approximately 173cm (5’8”) tall, sporting a slender physique. He had dark, wavy hair and was described as having a scruffy appearance. He wore dark 'stubbie' shorts and a light-colored, collarless short-sleeved T-shirt.

Law enforcement authorities are urging individuals with any information, irrespective of its scale, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can be provided anonymously.
