18-year-old Justin Gaines was last seen in Duluth, Georgia on November 2, 2007. He disappeared after spending the night out at a club.
BACKGROUND
Justin Glen Gaines was born on March 31, 1989, in Westlake, Ohio. He is the second of eight siblings and grew up in Snellville, Georgia, a suburb east of downtown Atlanta.
In 2007, Justin was a college freshman at the Oconee campus of Gainesville State College, about an hour’s drive from his parents home in Snellville.
DISAPPEARANCE
On November 1, 2007, Justin Gaines returned home to Snellville for the weekend to spend time with his family and help his stepfather with roofing work to make some extra money.
That evening, Justin was picked up by a friend who dropped him off at Wild Bill’s, a nightclub on Market Street in Duluth, Georgia, about a half hour away. Justin was a regular customer of the nightclub and went there alone with a VIP ticket.
Throughout the night, Justin was captured on surveillance video at the nightclub where the Thirsty Thursday party was being held with over 3,000 patrons.
Around 1:30 am on November 2, 2007, Justin was last seen on surveillance video standing outside Wild Bill’s. He made several cell phone calls to friends to ask for a ride home, but none were available. He did not call his parents.
Justin Gaines never returned home that night and hasn’t been heard from since.
His family filed a missing person’s report with the Gwinnett County Police Department after he failed to return home.
INVESTIGATION
Justin Gaines left his wallet, car, and identification behind at his mother’s house in Snellville.
Authorities theorize that Justin, who was wearing a diamond stud earring and flashing some cash, may have caught the attention of the wrong person in Wild Bill’s that evening. He then got lured into a car by people who robbed and killed him.
PERSONS OF INTEREST IDENTIFIED IN JUSTIN GAINES’S DISAPPEARANCE
In 2014, 28 year old Dustin Dylan Glass, a career criminal who was serving time in federal prison on drug charges, told authorities that he and Martin Leonard Wilkie assaulted Justin, shot him to de*ath, and stuffed his body in a “black metal toolbox.”
Authorities recovered a picture of Dustin Dylan Glass inside a pawn shop in Gwinnett County, where he was seen wearing a diamond earring in the early morning hours of November 2, 2007, shortly after Justin disappeared.
On September 14, 2015, Glass’ mother, Thelma Ruth Ballew, told police that she assisted Wilkie and another man dispose of Justin’s body in a well in High Shoals, Walton County.
Authorities conducted a search in three wells near the Apalachee River in Walton County, but found no signs of Justin. On September 21, 2015, Thelma Ruth Ballew was charged with making a false statement.
On September 3, 2015, 54 year old Martin Leonard Wilkie was charged with concealing a de*ath in Justin Gaines’s disappearance.
WHEREABOUTS
Foul play is suspected in Justin Gaines’s disappearance. A $25,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to an arrest in his case.
The circumstances of Justin’s disappearance remain unclear and his case is currently classified as missing. His case remains unsolved.
APPEARANCE
Physical Description:
White male born on March 31, 1989. Justin has brown hair, blue eyes, stands 5’10 tall, and weighs 230 pounds.
Distinctive Physical Features:
Justin has one front tooth discolored from a root canal, and bumps on one side of his nose that he has had since birth.
Clothing and accessories:
Justin was last seen wearing a gray Abercrombie long sleeve shirt, ripped blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. He wears a diamond stud earring in one ear, possibly in both.
