Man S-Tabs P-Edophile Cellmate Who Molested His Sister

Man S-Tabs P-Edophile Cellmate Who Molested His Sister

In a tragic turn of events within the confines of the Airway Heights Correctional Facility in Washington, Shane Goldsby, a man already serving time for a murder conviction, faced additional sentencing after fatally stabbing his cellmate, 70-year-old Robert Munger. The grim incident unfolded against the backdrop of Munger's heinous crimes, including child molestation, rape, and possession of child pornography.

Goldsby, having discovered that Munger was the perpetrator behind the rape of his juvenile sister, repeatedly requested a change in cellmates. However, his pleas were allegedly ignored by prison officials, setting the stage for the violent confron

tation that would later ensue.

The breaking point occurred in June 2020 when Munger continued describing the details of his appalling crimes in the communal area of the correctional facility. Goldsby, unable to contain his rage any longer, attacked Munger with a knife, stabbing him 14 times, kicking him, and stomping on his head. Munger succumbed to his injuries three days later.

Despite Goldsby's claims that he had sought a different cellmate and the prison's denial of any knowledge of the connection between the two inmates, the tragedy unfolded on surveillance cameras. Prison officials maintained that they had no means of preventing the murder, citing the inmates' different last names as a factor contributing to their lack of awareness.

During his sentencing hearing, the 26-year-old Goldsby expressed remorse and broke down, apologizing to Munger's family. His lawyer, Victoria Lynn Blumhorst, read a statement on his behalf, emphasizing the challenging circumstances Goldsby faced. The inmate claimed to have given his life to God in 2019, renouncing his previous involvement in gang activities. Goldsby felt victimized, asserting that being placed in the same cell as Munger amounted to a setup.

Goldsby's troubled past, marked by alleged abuse by his mother and a tumultuous journey through foster homes, was outlined in court. The statement suggested that he had turned his life around in 2019 but found himself grappling with the torment of being confined with the man responsible for his sister's trauma.

Despite the violent act, Goldsby asserted that his intent was not to kill Munger but to inflict harm. He expressed a desire for Munger to endure a lifetime of suffering in prison, believing it to be a fitting punishment for the crimes committed.

The lawyer's narrative painted a picture of a deeply troubled individual who, despite efforts to reform his life, faced overwhelming emotional turmoil within the prison environment. Goldsby's drastic actions, fueled by a sense of injustice and betrayal, led to a devastating outcome that left one man dead and another facing an extended prison sentence.

In tracing Goldsby's history, it was revealed that he had previously stabbed an individual and, in a separate incident, stole a police cruiser, resulting in a fatal collision with a state trooper cruiser in 2017. These events further underscored the complex and tumultuous path that had led Goldsby to the fateful encounter with Munger in the correctional facility.
